Mr. Billy Marvin Fields, age 82, of the Green Acres section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Friday (February 17, 2017). Born July 10, 1934 in Honaker, Virginia, he was a son of the late George L. and Gaynelle Slate Fields. A lifelong resident of Honaker, he was a 1954 graduate of Honaker High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict Era. A lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Honaker, he had formerly served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years. He was a retired truck driver and a former member of the Honaker Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Nicole Leigh Fields, and one sister, Helen Compton.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Roberta Fields of the home; two sons, Darrell Lynn Fields and wife, Robin and Danny Marvin Fields and wife, Michelle all of Honaker; three grandchildren, Allyson Fleming and husband, George of Lebanon, Kelli Whitt and husband, Brian of Brumley Gap, and Kevin Fields and wife, Raysha of Belfast; step-grandson, Mikey Ketron; three great-grandchildren, Phoenix Fleming, Brylie Whitt, and Zachary Fields; one step-great-granddaughter, Karmen Ketron; one sister, Sylvia Hale of Blountville, Tennessee; four brothers, Larry Fields and wife, Susie, Phillip Fields, Arthur “Moe” Fields and wife, Katie, and Randy Fields and wife, Karen all of Honaker; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Aaron Atchley officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Virginia.
Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9864 of Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Brian Whitt, Kevin Fields, George Fleming, Lynn Justice, George Rasnake, and Raymond Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Johnson, Bernard Owens, Bill Brown, Stanley Brown, and the men of the First United Methodist Church of Honaker.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Saturday at the Honaker Funeral Home, Honaker, Virginia.
