Austin Lee Franks was born on May 10, 1994 in Tulsa, OK to Jerry and Susan (Smith) Franks. He passed from this life on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at the age of 22.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Woodland High School Gymnasium under the direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home. He was raised in Fairfax and graduated in 2012 from Woodland High School. He received his associate's degree from Northern Oklahoma College in 2014, and was currently employed at the Pioneer Woman's Mercantile warehouse.
From the time Austin could walk he had a ball in his hand. If you could throw it, hit it, kick it or catch it, he wanted to play it. He and his dad spent countless hours throwing and catching balls.
He was blessed to be surrounded by a group of boys growing up that had the same passion and competitive spirit. From the time they were 5 until the year they graduated high school, these group of boys won numerous baseball, basketball and football games. They culminated their high school careers with a Class A state football championship in 2010 and a Class A state football runner up in 2011. Austin's favorite movie was "Remember the Titans" which epitomized how he felt about his brothers.
Austin believed in God and was baptized by his father on October 29, 2006, and was a member of The First Christian Church of Fairfax. He loved rap music, scary movies, dogs, the OSU Cowboys, shooting hoops, playing video games, watching sports on television and playing with his niece and nephews.
In the last year Austin's life started to fall into place. He had a job he loved and he fell in love with Dorcas Hall Zotigh. He was excited and extremely happy about their future. They were both joyful about becoming parents to Jaxon. He couldn't wait to become a father. Austin was the happiest we had ever seen him.
Austin is survived by his parents, his sister Sydney Hazen and husband, Jared. His nephews Roman and Bronson Hazen and niece Grayson. His girlfriend Dorcas Hall Zotigh. His grandparents Tommy Smith and Jim and Mary Ellen Harding and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Austin and Jaxon were both a blessing sent from God and our greatest gift. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what it unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
