Pfc. Shawn P. Falter, 25, of Cortland, N.Y.; was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; He died Jan. 20 in Karbala, Iraq, from wounds sustained when his patrol was ambushed while conducting dismounted operations. Also killed were Lt. Jacob N. Fritz, Spc. Johnathan B. Chism and Pvt. Johnathon M. Millican. He was Cortland County's first in the Iraq War. He was killed in action during an insurgent ambush in Karbala, Iraq at age 25. Four other's died in the same attack. They are, Sgt Jonathan Chism , Lieut. Jacob Fritz , Pfc. Johnathon Millican and Capt. Brian Freeman
