Robert Harold Booten, 82, of West Point, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 1993 at his home.

Born May 7, 1911, at Stronghurst, Ill., he was the son of Lowell C. and Mary Elizabeth"Bessie" Siens Booten. He married Marie C. Orth on Jan. 2, 1932 in Burlington. She died March 29, 1973. He then married Dixie L. Fedler on Nov. 22, 1975, Phoenix, Ariz.

Mr. Booten had been a musician in Henderson County, Ill., in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He had worked for the Burlington Soap Factory, was a steel worker on Lock & Dam 18 north of Burlington, and farmed north of Denmark, near Carman, Ill., and northeast of West Point. From 1933 until 1941, he served as city marshal in Gulfport, Ill. He was a drill sergeant instructor at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and later a guard at the plant from 1941 until retiring in 1973.

Mr. Booten had been a resident of the West Point area since 1959 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and American Legion Post 668 of West Point and Disabled American Veterans of Burlington. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy Seabees.

Survivors include his wife; a son Robert L. Booten of West Point; four daughters, Veva Moehn of Omaha, Neb., Ruthann Despain of San Diego, Calif., Bonnie Doom of Denver, Colo., and Connie Savage of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Lucille Webb of West Burlington and Rose Darline Boyer of Biggsville, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Link Funeral Home, West Point, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a Christian wake service will be at 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Booten will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Pointm with the Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Point.

Memorials have been established for St. Mary's Catholic Church and Lee County Hospice.
