He was a dairy farmer and later established a seed company. He was a committee member and benefactor of the Northwestern Illinois Friends of the NRA, a lifetime member of the NRA, and Farmhouse Fraternity. Dick is credited with helping people through tough times and making people feel good by telling stories and jokes. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and having coffee with the Romeo's on Tuesday mornings. He had a great sense of humor despite having long term health issues.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Donna, daughter Carol Sue (Jeff) Wubbena of Forreston, sons Rich (Lily) Curtiss and John (Stephanie) Curtiss of Stockton, 10 grandchildren; Michael, Aaron & Adam Wubbena, Dalton, Dominick, Jackson & Jazmine Curtiss, and Emily, Dylan & Adriana Curtiss, sisters Margaret and Cynthia, and brother Bob. Special gratitude to Wayne & Carol Noller, Tom & Pat Noller and several very special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol and brother George.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Curtiss Farm, 1330 S. Curtiss RD in Stockton on Sunday, June 8, 2014, starting at 1:00 PM. Stories, jokes and food will be enjoyed by all. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice and Friends of the NRA.
