Mildred was born on September 21, 1933 to Clarence and Elizabeth Marie (Toppen) Menning in rural Corsica, SD. She was a member of the Grace Reformed Church in Corsica where she made her Profession of Faith. In 1951 she graduated from Corsica High School. Mildred was united in marriage to Bernard Eugene Vlasman on June 19, 1953 at the Grace Reformed Church.
Mildred was a member of the Aurora Reformed Church in Stickney, SD where she taught Sunday School, Catechism and Bible School. She was also active in the Women’s Guild and Dorcas Society. Mildred was very creative and enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, chalk art and painting pictures. She loved cooking for her family, no one ever went away hungry. One of her favorite things was spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Elizabeth Menning; her in-laws, Andrew and Jeanette Vlasman; a sister, JoAnn Meyerink;and brothers and sisters-in-law: Marion (MaryLou) Vlasman and Doris (Ed) Beukelman.
