Funeral services for Ruby Mae Sutton, 90 year-old Hydro, Oklahoma resident, will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church in Hydro, Oklahoma with Pastor Rick Dyson officiating. Burial will follow in Hydro Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford.

Ruby was born December 18, 1926 in Hydro, Oklahoma to Beulah (Thiessen) Foreman and Fred Foreman on a farm near Myer’s station on Highway 54 and passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. When Ruby was two weeks old, her family moved to the W.H. Dillion Farm and remained there until 1966 when her father passed away. Ruby attended grade school at Fost School (a country school) and graduated from Hydro high school in 1944. After high school, she moved to Cupertino, California where she worked at Shuchle’s Cannery for two seasons. In 1947, Ruby attended Lam Beauty College and worked as a beautician in Coreington, Tawanka, and Hinton before purchasing the Hydro Beauty Shop. On April 9, 1950 she married Frank Jefferson Sutton in Carnegie, Oklahoma. They had one daughter on May 16, 1951 and then a son, Jeffery Sutton in 1955 who died at birth. Their second son, Todd Jeff Sutton, was born on March 23, 1959.

Frank and Ruby accepted Christ in Stroud, Oklahoma in 1952 while building bridges for Frost Construction Company. They built three bridges on the turnpike between Stroud and Tulsa. The couple bought their first home in Hydro, Oklahoma in 1953 and in 1965, they accepted a job with the Oklahoma State Highway Department and moved to Elk City, Oklahoma. Debbie and Todd graduated from Elk City high school.

In 1977, Frank and Ruby moved to Hydro, Oklahoma to retire. Frank passed away in 1986, and Ruby remained in Hydro. Ruby enjoyed genealogy, cooking, reading, photography, journaling and attended the First Christian Church of Hydro. Memorials may be made to Hydro 1st Responders.

Ruby is survived by one son, Todd Sutton and wife, Jamie of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one daughter, Debbie Kepley and husband, Ken of N. Prince George, Virginia; two brothers, Harold “Chod” Foreman of El Reno, Oklahoma, Benny Dale Foreman and wife, Donna of El Reno, Oklahoma; one sister, Dorothy Berrey and husband, Donald of Warrenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kristy, Tina, Kyle and Koby; and four great-grandchildren, Jenna, Erin, Mya and Bryar. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; one brother, Earl; one son, Jeffery; and one great-granddaughter, Kyla Kepley.
