Services for Julian “Sonny” Thompson, Jr. will be at 2PM, Friday, February 17, 2017 at Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Jonesville, LA with Rev. Larry Whittington officiating. Visitation will be from 2PM, Thursday, February 16th until time of service at 2PM, Friday, February 17th at the church. Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery, Nebo under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria.

Sonny, 77, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was an oilfield man, fisherman and cattleman. He loved being captain of dredge boats.

He was preceded in death by his son, Grady Justin Thompson; mother and father, Charlie Alene and Julian “Dub” Thompson; and one sister, Nita Dayton.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Jeanette Thompson; son, Julian Thompson and wife Misty; sisters, Norma Ducote and Diana Valentine; sister-n-law, Johnnie Whatley; brother-n-laws, Gary Whatley and Jim Corley; two special girls, Anna and Little Sunny; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family.

Pallbearers will be Alan Dayton, Tommy Joe McClure, Riley Lenard, Donnie Valentine, Shannon Valentine, Chance Birkicht and Rowdy Ryland. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary and Logan Whatley, JC Thompson, Chuck Chevallier, Cody Ryland, Paul McClure, Bill Edmonds, CJ Chevallier, Lester Hailey, Lane Windham and Keven Webb.
