Joyce M. O'Leary (Barfield), 85, widow of Francis J. O'Leary, passed peacefully on St. Valentine's Day at the Springbrook Nursing Center in Clayton. Born in Alabama in 1931 to the late Willie and Verna Barfield, Joyce lived for more than 30 years in Garner.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Joyce excelled at creating beautiful crafts, painting, and extraordinary embroidered quilts. Her joy was her garden, which was once featured in a national magazine.

She was blessed to be included in the congregation at the Aversboro Road Baptist Church, and Helen Cooper, Linda Poole, Susan and Ray Moore brought her extra comfort. The family is grateful to Joyce's grandson, Stephen, the staff of Transitions LifeCare and the staff Springbrook Nursing Center for their care of Joyce.

Surviving are her son Kenneth and his wife Terri, her daughter Catherine and her husband Johnny, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
