VERNA LEE ROBINSON, of Georgetown, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2017. She was 92. Born February 25, 1924, to the late Edward A. and Laura M.(Sermersheim) Peters in Cincinnati, Ohio. Verna Lee lived in Louisville until she was about 21 when she moved to Georgetown.

Verna Lee married James Bryan Robinson, Jr., with whom she raised and cared for two sons. In addition to her beloved family, Verna Lee took pride in her work as a secretary for a number of firms including the University of Kentucky College of Law and the University of Kentucky Medical Center. She was also employed for nearly a decade with Kelly Girl Services where she enjoyed a wide range of jobs and making many new friends.

She volunteered her time to many charities and local organizations over the years, including the Sisters of Visitation at Cardome Academy and St. John’s Catholic Church in Georgetown. Verna Lee was also certified by the Georgetown City Police as an original volunteer member of the first women school crosswalk patrol in 1958. In the late 1950s Verna Lee was recognized for countless honors at the Scott County Fair including Grand Champion of Foods. Verna Lee’s love for cooking and baking came from her father who was a lifetime German baker.

Verna Lee is survived by her two sons, Richard Lee (Virginia Gay) and Gary Joseph Robinson; grandchildren, Beau Weston Robinson, Lacy Ann Robinson, Heather Renee Peters (Jeffrey) and Shallan Brooke Robinson; a great-grandson, Samuel Colton Peters; and a sister, Shirley Greer of Westfield, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by a sister, Norma McGeary, and a brother, Edward A. Peters, Jr., both of Louisville.

Verna Lee’s family gathered on February 17, 2017, at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home to honor her life. Interment was at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Louisville.
