Marcus (M.O.E.) was born April 15, 1916 and passed away on Dec. 24, 2016 at the age of 100!
His parents were David and Alice Edwards. He married Ruth Stockman on Nov. 19, 1940. They had three children. Bruce, Barbara and Marcia and 3 grandchildren, Marc (Miriam) Hugentobler, Spencer (Jennifer) Beck and Betsy Beck Steckel. And had 11 great-grandchildren: Sara, Grey and Drew Hugentobler, Taylor, Jordyn, James, Kamryn, Chandler and Zachary Beck; Logan and Clare Steckel. He also leaves behind many nieces & nephews that adored him.
Moe worked at the Associated Press until he joined the Army and moved to San Antonio, TX to live on the base. Then joined the Air Force and served as a pilot overseas with the B-24 bomber squadron. He retired a Major after his career in the military 6/42-4/45 and served 20 years in the Reserves. He worked at Bintz, Artemis, and worked from 1957-1980 at Movitz Jewelers where he retired to pick up the game of golf. He loved the game of golf and he was a darn-good golfer until he was 93 years old. He had 2 holes in one. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Stockman Edwards, son Bruce Dee Edwards and siblings David, Henry, Althea, Rulon, Morris, Elliot, Edith and Ralph. He leaves behind his daughter Marcia (Fil) Beck and Barbara Edwards.
We would like to thank all of his "family" at Sunrise of Holladay. They took such special care of Moe and especially George Wright for giving him special attention. Thanks also to Jolene, his hospice nurse from Solstice, and all of the other people who gave him tender loving care these last 2 months.
There will be a Memorial service on Friday, Dec. 30 at 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church on 2150 Foothill Drive. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church. Moe has selflessly donated his body to the U of U School of Medicine.
