PFC US ARMY WORLD WAR II BRONZE STAR MEDAL

BURLINGTON, VT. - Bernard Harry DeVoid Sr., age 95, passed away at the VNA - Vermont Respite House in Colchester, Vt. on Monday, February 13th 2017.

He was born on August 23rd 1921 in Monkton, Vt., he was the son of Lyman and Ruth (Hanks) DeVoid.

Bernard served in the Army during WWII and received many medals including the Bronze Star.

He married Phyllis Mary Ploof on October 11th 1945 in Burlington, Vermont and was happily married until her death in 2000.

He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW.

He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Carroll DeVoid and Gerald DeVoid; two sons, Robert and Bernard DeVoid Jr.; his daughter, Linda (DeVoid) Duclos; and his daughter-in-law, Anna DeVoid.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Burlington at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 17th 2017.

Arrangements are by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Home Directors in Burlington, Vt.

Interment will take place at the Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington, Vt. in the spring.
