Sergeant Scott P. Turbeville, age 39, of New Richmond, Wis., died on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at his home.
Scott was born the son of Dale and Leona (Murray) Turbeville on Aug. 13, 1971, in St. Paul. He graduated from St. Croix Central High School with the class of 1990. After high school, Scott went to Chippewa Valley Technical College for a degree in law enforcement. His first job was with the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department. He spent a number of years with the Minnesota Department of Corrections in Lino Lakes, Minn., and has been with the New Richmond Police Department since 1998, becoming a full-time officer in 2003. Scott was married to Tracey Haglund on May 23, 1998, at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond. They were blessed with two children, Emma and Ethan.
As his Packer license plate said, IBFISHIN, Scott enjoyed fishing and the Packers. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, spending time with his family and making people laugh. He loved being a police officer and was very dedicated to his work. Scott was an excellent husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Evelyn Turbeville and Leslie and Kathryn Murray, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and June Haglund.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Tracey Turbeville; loving children, Emma and Ethan Turbeville; parents, Dale and Lee Turbeville; siblings, Paul (Jeanette) Turbeville and Julie (Bill) Powell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leroy (Barb) Haglund, Wayne (Sherry) Haglund, Brenda Haglund, Bobbie (Rhonda) Haglund, and Linda (Rod) Hawkins; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at First Lutheran Church, 258 N 3rd St., New Richmond. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at First Lutheran Church and on Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. at church. Interment was in New Richmond Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Powell, Paul Turbeville, Neil Johnson, Wayne Haglund, Bobbie Haglund, and Rod Hawkins.
A memorial fund has been established for the education of Scott's children at Royal Credit Union, 355 S. Knowles Ave., New Richmond.
Arrangements are with Bakken-Young's Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
