David Klotzbach, 64, died suddenly of a heart attack on February 11, 2017. David was born on February 20, 1952 in Batavia, NY to Kenneth and Joanne Klotzbach and grew up on a dairy farm, working alongside his father from a very young age. He met his future wife Barbara Whittemore at Houghton College on a blind date arranged by his cousin, and they were married 2 years later. After graduating from the University of Buffalo in 1975, they moved to New England and eventually settled in West Plymouth where they raised their three children: Jonathan, Laurie, and Philip. David had a long-time career as a software engineer and consultant in the defense industry. For the past 20 years, he worked as a senior software engineer at General Dynamics in Taunton, where he was highly regarded and known as the "go to" problem solver.
He was devoted to his family and his faith and was happiest surrounded by his children and grandchildren, spending countless hours creating happy memories with them. Over the years, he wrote many notes of encouragement to family and friends. Whether through daily notes, making her favorite omelet, or taking her on a cruise, he continually demonstrated his love to his wife. He filled many roles at church including, elder, Bible teacher, and treasurer, as well as served on various mission boards.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Barbara and his three children, Jonathan (Danielle), Laurie Klotzbach Curtis, and Philip (Kristine). He was adored by his 5 grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, Noah, Lydia, and Julia. He is also survived by his loving mother Joanne Hay (Harold), and his three siblings, Mary Phillips (Robert), Mark (Louise), and Daniel (Susan), and Barbara's mother, Jennie Whittemore. He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Klotzbach.
