Abram Served in the 38th Virginia Infantry, Confederate States of America.
From 38th Virginia Infantry of the Virginia Regimental Histories Series by G Howard Gregory, published by H E Howard Inc of Lynchburg VA in 1988, page 130:
WHITE, ABRAM: Enlist as a Private in Company C 30 May 1861 at Laurel Grove; sent to Chimborazo #1 Hospital 14 Mar 1862; furloughed 21 Apr 1862 for 15 days. Present until Wounded In Action at Seven Pines 31 May 1862, severely through both legs. Absent through Sept 1862; returned prior to Gettysburg where Wounded In Action through both legs and taken Prisoner Of War 3 July 1863. Paroled from U.S.A. General Hospital West Buildings, Baltimore MD 25 Sept 1863 to be transferred to City Point for exchange; admitted Chimborazo #3 as nurse 28 Sept 1863; furloughed 10 Oct 1863 for 20 days; returned to duty by Aug 1864; present through 25 Feb 1865.
