Marjorie was born December 19, 1925 on the family farm near Cameron to Henry and Ida (Silflow) Wendt. She grew up there along with her younger sister, Esther. She and Esther road a horse 3 miles to attended early grade school in Cameron. Marjorie later attended school in Southwick and eventually graduated from Kendrick high school.

Marjorie attended one year at Kinman Business College in Spokane and then worked at the Washington State University Library.

She married Kenneth Wilken, also from the Cameron area on October 1, 1949. They lived and farmed in the Cameron area all their lives and raised their family there. She and Kenneth were very active in 4-H with their children and also in church activities at the Cameron Emmanuel Lutheran Church. A skilled quilter, Marjorie helped make numerous quilts for relief projects as part of the Lutheran ladies aid. She also hand quilted more than 30 for family and friends.

Marjorie enjoyed camping with family and friends, rock hounding, square dancing and teaching 4-H and Sunday School. She found joy in gardening and developing a beautiful landscaped yard. She had an artistic flare for fresh flower arrangements.

She was a member of the Native Plant Society and a charter member of the Hill and Valley Garden Club. It was relaxing for her to walk round the yard and garden with a hoe in her hand. She took a horticulture class while working at WSU and had a desire to pursue a degree in it. She was very interested in genealogies and did a lot of history study on her family and families in the Cameron area.

Marjorie loved children and took opportunities to make a difference in their lives whether in Sunday School, 4-H or other special activities. One of her greatest joys was being a farm wife and she loved serving her husband, children and grandchildren whenever possible.

Survivors names omitted per findagrave policy.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband in 2014 and by her sister Esther.

Kimball Funeral Home & Crematory, Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Cameron Emmanuel Lutheran Church or 7 Ridges Educational Foundation in Kendrick.
