Barbara Jane Hill

Jane was called to her eternal home to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday morning. She was surrounded with love from her family and passed peacefully.

Jane was born to Florence Fern Wymore Jenkins and Ray E. Jenkins in Kansas City, Kansas and attended Kansas University. She moved to Santa Clara, California with her family in 1958. It was there that she met the love of her life, David Hill, on a blind date. They married in 1960 and had two daughters, Janet and Julie.

Jane and Dave moved to Reno in 1975 and were inseparable during their 57 year marriage. They enjoyed water skiing, boating, square dancing, and singing with the Celebration Singers and also in the South Reno United Methodist Choir. Jane loved traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to being a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Jane worked as an executive administrator and later, for many years, as a medical office manager. Jane served as a Deacon at St. John's Presbyterian Church. She volunteered her time with 4-H, Girl Scouts, Marvin Picollo School, Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program, and Reno-South Kiwanis. For many years, she taught Sunday School.

Jane is survived by her beloved husband David, daughters Janet DeWitt (Chris) and Julie McGuire, grandchildren Jessica, Jason, and Ryan Starr (Alison), Shane McGuire, Shannon Crowl (Gregor), Vaungaylyn Zarcone (Matt) and Tjerck DeWitt (Alyssa). She was further blessed with great-grandchildren, Ethan and Addyson Starr, Ariya Crowl, Zoe Zarcone, Orion and Elara DeWitt. Jane is also survived by loving sisters Kathy Corona, Judy Hauck (Larry), Lou Ann Rodgers (Steve), Sidney Lofton (Wayne) and Gay Jenkins Hylan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Heather Prosser Starr, and Jacob Zarcone.

A celebration of life will be held on Jane's birthday, March 8, 2:00pm at St. John's Presbyterian Church.
