Sam was a retired plant manager with Union Carbide. After his retirement, he opened and managed several Subway Restaurant franchises. Everyone enjoyed being around him, because he had an infectious laugh and great sense of humor. He was a huge Mountaineer sports fan and never missed a game and also loved hunting, fishing, playing golf and watching WWE. He loved spending time with his DuPont High School 1969 friends and enjoyed a West Virginia style hot dog. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Jimmy, Shelby, Delmar and Doyle "Gene" Bays.
