Machias-Glenn J. Woodruff of Bear Creek Rd., died Wednesday (Nov. 3, 1976) in Machias after a long illness.
Born Dec. 19, 1890, in Machias, he was a son of Mark and Sarah Osgood Woodruff.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lorna Bump of Liverpool, Mrs. Betty Kujaneck of Englewood, Fla., and Mrs. Gene Pepper of Franklinville; a son, Glenn Burbank Woodruff; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Woodruff was a lifelong resident of Machias, and a veteran of World War I, serving in France wit the U.S. Army. Many years ago, he taught school in Pleasant Valley and was well-known for his strawberries and blueberries. He was also an inventor, and had received a patent for a sprinkling system.
Friends may call at the Babbitt and Allen Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville, today from 7 to 9 pm.m and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held there at 1 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 6, 1976). The Rev. Clair Day, pastor of the First Christian Church of Machias, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Machias.
