Oscar Dayton [Sic. Drayton] (Rob) Brown, 72, of Hodges, Rt. 2, died this morning [February 19, 1969] at Self Memorial Hospital following several days critical illness. He was born in Laurens County Dec. 24, 1896, a son of the late Chesley Dayton [Sic. Drayton] and Josephine Crawford Brown, both natives of Laurens County. He had lived practically his entire life in Greenwood County. He was a member of Durst Avenue Church of God and was a World War I veteran. Prior to his retirement he was employed with Abney Mills. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace Coats Brown; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Kelley of Hodges; two sons, William D. Brown of the home and the Rev. Charles D. Brown of Greenwood; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Nannie Wilson of Greenwood, Mrs. Annie Mae Bozard of Newberry, Mrs. Jessie Phillips of Newberry and Mrs. Willie Reeder of Cross Hill; one brother, George Brown of Greenwood.
