Visitation will be held at 5:00 – 7:00 p.m on Wednesday, 2/15/2017 at Serenity Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, 2/16/2017 at Serenity Funeral Home. Bro. Ron Jarman of Grand Bay First Assembly of God will be officiating. Burial will be immediately following the funeral at Serenity Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Serenity Funeral Home.
Hayward was born in McIntosh, Washington County, AL on November 22, 1942. He graduated from Mobile County High School in Grand Bay, AL. Hayward was married to Dorothy Deakle on August 28, 1990; they were married 26 years. Hayward worked as a Millwright for Mundy Maintenance and Austin Maintenance for 30 years and continued to do shutdown work when called upon until time of death. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gospel singings, traveling, pulling pranks and spending time with family and friends. He was an active member of Grand Bay First Assembly of God, where he faithfully attended for his entire adult life. Hayward also was a member of the Grand Bay Antique Car Club.
Hayward is survived by "The Wife", Dorothy Deakle Douglas; Stepchildren: Rhonda (Clyde) Wynn, Cynthia Tyson, Richard Fleming; Stepgrandchildren,: Mandy (Timothy) Carpenter and Taylor Wynn; Step-Greatgranddaughter, Everly Faith Carpenter; a brother, Harold (Carolyn) Douglas; a sister, Jean Koppersmith; nieces, nephews, other family, many friends, and his loyal companion/sidekick/shadow – Tut.
Hayward is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Callie Douglas; a sister, Rosetta Douglas; brothers, Carlton Douglas and Amon Douglas.
