Celebration of life service for Marilyn A. Anderson was held on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Murray Jones officiating. A private family inurnment was held at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege prior to the services.

Marilyn Ann Anderson, 80 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. Marilyn was born December 15, 1936 at Wymore, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred and Kathryn (Smith) Jones. She received her education from Holdrege Public Schools, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1955.

In 1961, she was united in marriage to Robert G. Anderson. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Marilyn provided day care for many years out of their home. Many bonds were formed babysitting for “her kids” throughout the years. Later in years, she was also employed by the First Security Bank and Holdrege Memorial Homes.

Marilyn was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center, and most of all she loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Carol Young; three brothers: Lloyd “Jimmy” Jones in infancy, Eldon Jones and Richard Jones.

She leaves to celebrate her life her three sons: Tim Long and his wife, Barb; Scott “Curly” Anderson and his wife, Lori; and Dave “Albert” Anderson and his wife, Jody, all of Holdrege; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; her twin brother, Merwyn Jones and his wife, Millie of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial book signing was held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Marilyn’s honor and will be designated at a later date.
