YORK P. Gary Zarfoss, 63, of York Township, died Sunday at 1 a.m. on his birthday at his home, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Janet L. (Einsig) Zarfoss.

The service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wm. J. Workinger Funeral Home Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. Burial will be in Susquehanna Me

morial Gardens. Viewing will be noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Zarfoss was born on July 3, 1931, in York. He was the son of the late Paul F. and Louise R. (Ropp) Zarfoss.

He was general manager of The Weekly Record in Shrewsbury. Previously, he was publisher of The Record Advertiser.

A member of Temple Baptist Church, he had served as a deacon and as church treasurer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School, with the Class of 1949.

Mr. Zarfoss also is survived by a daughter, Kelly L. Shinn of Elizabethtown, Lancaster County; a son, Ryan G. Zarfoss of Alexandria, Va.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Young and Carol Grafton, both of Salisbury, Md.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Roger A. Ward, a Baptist minister at State College.
