Ronald Allan Gradert, 82, of Wilton, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Wilton Retirement Community, Wilton, IA

Ron was born in Cedar County, IA on May 29, 1934 to Hilbert and Agnes (Dall) Gradert.

Ron graduated from Wilton High School in 1952. He worked at Alcoa for 15 years and later at Bendix. He retired from White Pigeon Insurance Agency in Wilton, IA where he was a claims adjuster.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilton, Wilton Masonic Lodge #167 AF & AM, Order of Eastern Star, Purity Chapter and the Wilton Historical Society. He was a retired Wilton Volunteer Firefighter, where he served as assistant chief and served 11 years on the Wilton City Council. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and baking banana bread for area businesses.

Ron married Kathleen Marie Reynolds on May 27, 1956 in Grandview, IA. She preceded him in death on January 19, 1981. He later married Diana M. Flater Maurer on January 21, 1989 in Wilton, IA.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Bentley Funeral Home in Wilton, IA. Masonic services will be conducted at 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilton, IA.

Interment will take place in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton, IA.

Ron is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter Laurie (Tom) Maurer of Wilton, IA, his sons: Darrel (Christine) Gradert of Blue Grass, IA, Michael (Marilea) Gradert and Steve (Trisha) Gradert both of Wilton, IA, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and his step-daughters: Deborah (Tony) Hurd and Julia (Mark) Peterson both of Wilton, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, his step-daughter Leah Maurer and grandson Nic Peterson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in his memory.
