Donald Lloyd Leysath went home to God on 2/13/17 after an extended battle w/ Dementia.

Survived by his wife of 56yrs, Jacqueline Marple Leysath, 3 children & 11 grandchildren. Son, Chris & Helen Leysath of Fredonia, NY (Megan, Kyle & Annelise), son Brian & Tricia Leysath of Siler City, NC (Aidan, Dylan, Sawyer and Cosette), daughter Danielle & Andrew Ireland of Cortland Manor, NY (Chelsea , Jessica, Annie and Michael)
Don was Born in Philadelphia PA on 4-9-36
He graduated from West Philadelphia High in 1953 and promptly joined the US Marine Corp where he served through 1957.
Don returned to Phila. to attend West Chester State Teachers College, graduating w/ a BS in Biology/Chemistry.
Don worked as a high school Science teacher in Delaware; a plant manager for Southco Corporation in Honeoye Falls, NY (10yrs) before finding his calling' in Pharmaceutical Sales with Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Don went into business for himself as partner in Alderman & Eckerson, located in Palmyra, NY and later opened his own sales company; LMS Sales where he excelled until his retirement in 2007.
Don was politically active acting as Palmyra Village Trustee, Town Supervisor of Naples (10yrs) and as Ontario County Vice Chairman. He sat on numerous Ontario County boards, volunteered at the local VA and was also a proud member of the Freemasons.
In 1976, Don & Jackie purchased a large tract of land in Naples, NY and built their dream home. They raised their family here, where they remain today. As active members of Saint Januarius, Don could often be found socializing among the members before and after service.
Frequently visiting the RPO, Don was a lover of classical music, live theatre and opera.
He was an avid reader of WW2 history, a gun enthusiast, enjoyed making wine and loved aviation: having attained his pilot license while still in high school. He continued flying well into his adult years. Don enjoyed 'Gentleman farming' and at various times raised cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens and horses. He loved working the land on his tractor and leased many acres for agricultural development.
Don was an avid boater; both motorized and sail, and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren the same at his cottage on Keuka Lake. As a man who could not sit still, he enjoyed continual modification and improvement of all of his properties.
Don loved to travel w/ his wife and often ventured off to Europe, the Caribbean and Florida.
He was a fun loving individual who never refused an opportunity to assist those in need. He was very social and liked to be around people. He could be found most mornings at the local bagel shop before beginning his busy day: 'coffee with the boys' , he'd say.
Don loved to laugh and enjoyed a good joke. He'd never forget a face, was always willing to help and greeted everyone he encountered.
Don was a gift to his family, well respected w/in his community and among the greatest of friends.
We loved him dearly and we will miss him.
