Services for Charles M. Carter, age 91, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Brotherton Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Wade Givens and Bro. Doyle Crawford officiating. His final resting place will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Mr. Carter went home to be with Jesus on February 13, 2017 after battling heart disease at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Charles was born June 23, 1925 (on his father`s birthday) in rural Putnam County, Tennessee, to the late Willis Carter Sr. and Ethel McKinley Carter.

He was a lifelong farmer and also worked as a rural mail carrier for 20 years in Putnam County. Charles married the love of his life,
Mary Frances (Bullock) Carter and they were blessed to spend 72 years together.
They had three girls, Joyce Carter Daughtery, Rebecca Gay Carter Lane, and
Janice Carter Blaylock.
He lived a life that was an overflow of the love and joy of Christ in his heart. Charles was a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years at Brotherton Missionary Baptist Church. He was a hardworking, generous, humble man and a pillar in the community. He spent time with people, poured himself into his work and was loved and respected by all who met him. His life was a testament to his faith and the ripple of his influence reached far and wide.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Willis Carter Jr, Loyd 'Davis' Carter,
James Dow Carter, Hubert Carter, and sisters, Willene Chote and Glenda 'Ann' Welch.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife; his daughter, Joyce Daughtery and her spouse, Albert Daughtery, Rebecca Gay Lane and spouse, David Lane, and Janice Blaylock and spouse, Jim Blaylock; eight grandchildren, Cynthia Belfatto, Mike Lane,
Al Daughtery, Brian Daughtery, Emily Smith, Wayne Blaylock, Amber Hoffert, and
Megan Cooper; and was blessed with twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Rose 'Pauline' Carter Johnson and
Sue Carter Birdwell.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Hickman, Jim Madewell, Joey Smith, Larry Bullock, Nickey Ray, and Wayne Blaylock. Art Norris will serve as honorary pallbearer.
