Douglas Allen King passed away Sunday May 5, 2019 at the age of 95. He was born on July 26, 1923 in Jonesboro, Louisiana. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II and earned numerous awards and medals, including two purple hearts. After retiring from Bossier Caddo Glass Company, he turned to his passion of spending time outdoors and enjoyed working in his yard. His favorite pastime was to keep a fresh cut lawn with a push mower. He loved cutting lawns so much he would cut anyone's yard that would ask.

He is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Willodean J. King; sons, Sonny King and Mike Valentine; daughter, Cherry V. Thomas; parents, Fred and Mattie King; sisters, Maureen, Janice, and Jeanette King; and brothers, Bobby Jack and Harold King.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Penny LaRoux (Robby), and Becky Compton (Jerry); five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and one granddaughter-in-law.

Special thanks from the family are expressed to Regional Hospice, and all the nurses and staff at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home for the love and care they gave to daddy. He loved you all!

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating the services at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Honoring him as pallbearers will be, Robby LaRoux, Matt LaRoux, Adam LaRoux, Tom Baudoin, Dylan Baudoin, and Terry Kelley.
