Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend passed away in her Jewel Lake home, with her family surrounding her. Edith was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 1/2 years ago and though facing her condition with bravery, she has arrived at her eternal resting place where she will join her parents, husband, son, daughter, granddaughter and other extended family whose death preceded hers.

Edith moved to Alaska from Galesville, Wisconsin, in 1949, with her husband, Gordon, where they homesteaded in the Big Lake area for several years. They then moved to downtown Anchorage, where they resided for 30 years before moving to their home on Jewel Lake in 1980. Edith and Gordon raised 11 children in Alaska, spending their summers working the family gold mine in Chicken.
Edith was a devout Catholic and attended both Holy Family Cathedral and St. Benedict's, where she volunteered for both the Claire House and St. Francis House. She retired from Dimond High cafeteria in 2001.
She was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, where she and her husband enjoyed dancing and socializing. Some of her other passions included spending time with her mother, Ruth, playing cards with her family and friends, music and traveling. Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Philippines, England, Scotland and Rome were some of her favorite destinations. She considered herself grateful to have experienced such a full and enriched life, surrounded by friends and family who loved her dearly.

Edith is survived by her 10 children, Jeanette and Marcus Brooks, Diane and Danny Dye, David and Dianna Kukowski, Dan and Alice Kukowski, Judy and David Hall, Mary and George Avery, Raymond and Vicke Kukowski, Patrick and Julie Kukowski, Michael and Wendy Kukowski and Todd and Renia Kukowski; 11 grandchildren, Kim and Jason Drummond, Karon and Aaron Osborne, Caitlin and Deb Avery, Kyle and Ashley Avery, Shelbe and Chauntae Kukowski, Rachael and Frank Pecoraro, Tyler Kukowski, Lonnie Kukowski, Jarrad Kukowski, Jesse Kukowski and Joshua Kukowski; and eight great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kaelyn Drummond, Remie and Aidan Osborne, Cheyane Kukowski/Ryder, Morgan and Colton Avery and Emma Rose Pecoraro.
