Charles Cox was born in Wisconsin, a son of Frank Chauncey Cox and Anna Maria Nelson.

In 1910, after his father's death in 1907, he and his mother were living in River Falls, Wisconsin. By 1920 he was in the Army and stationed at Jefferson Barracks, St Louis, Missouri.

He married Mae Grace Clark in 1927 and they had a daughter Carol.

They were in Berkeley, California in 1930 where he was a clerk. They lived in rural Idaho in 1935 but by 1940 they were in Concord, California where he was a school teacher at Mt. Diablo Union High School.

They moved to Sun City in I985 from Concord. California.

He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.

Survivors were likely his daughter, Mrs. Carol Crooker.
