==================
Abe was born at East 37th and Woodland. His parents died when he was a teenager, and A.D. became the sole breadwinner.

After attending John Adams High School, he started at age 16 in 1928 as an office boy for Blaushild Motors at E.121st and Kinsman run by Lester Blaushild.

Within two years, A.D. became service manager which enabled him to keep the family together as the nation entered the Great Depression. In 1935 he was assigned to manage a Collinwood branch office for Blaushild

Three years later he acquired this branch as a dealership of his own for $3,000 in borrowed money. In 1939 he had to close it and return to Blaushild’s as a salesman where he was able to pay back all the money he owed.

In 1942 he helped the World War II effort by becoming part-owner of a machine shop. At the end of the war, he opened Chrysler-Plymouth dealerships, first in Lima, Ohio, and then in Lockport, NY and sold those in a few years.

In 1950 he obtained a DeSoto-Plymouth franchise at Detroit and Grace Avenues in Lakewood which lasted seven years, during which time he received the manufacturer’s Quality Award presented to only 19 dealers out of 3,000 nationwide.

In 1958 A.D. bought out Hanks Motors (Oldsmobile dealership) of Lakewood, and continued at his Detroit Avenue location with Oldsmobiles.

Abe sold his Lakewood Oldsmobile dealership in 1979. In 1992 his major interest was deep discount business -Drug Emporium Inc., operating 223 stores in 34 states. He was a member of its board of directors.

Abe had a reputation for honesty and fairness, and his generosity helped the community’s hospital, churches and charitable organizations.

Abe was Honorary trustee of the Lakewood Kiwanis Scholarship Foundation and received a Legion of Honor Award for having chalked up 25 years as a local Kiwanian.

In 1992 Abe and his wife, the former Rose Blaushild, daughter of Les, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. They had 3 daughters & 8 grandchildren and were living in Shaker Heights. Rose was the sister of f David L. Blaushild and Mrs Helen Sills.

Abe and Rose were both buried in Mayfield Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.
