Larry M. Schmidt, age 61, of Hartford, WI, formerly of Howards Grove, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born on December 22, 1955, son of the late Roy & Rogene C. (Thiel) Schmidt. Larry was a 1973 graduate of Kiel High School. He had sold insurance and investments for Prudential Insurance in Howards Grove. Larry received a degree in machining and marketing from LTC and worked in the machinist trade in the area. Larry enjoyed watching stock car racing and many other sports, especially the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of the Howards Grove Athletic Association, umpired baseball, enjoyed shooting pool and riding his motorcycle. Survivors include his siblings; Ronald (Wendy) Schmidt, Cleveland, Connie (Andrew) Hahn, Newton, James (Roxanne Nauth) Schmidt, Cleveland, nine nieces and nephews, three aunts, Alice Schmidt, Evelyn Meinnert, Carol Mae Blazic, one uncle, Merlin Thiel, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Donald, one niece, Melissa Hahn, aunts and uncles. Funeral services for Larry will be held at 6:00 pm, Monday, February 20, 2017 at St. John UCC, Schwartzwald, W3401 Orchard Road, Elkhart Lake, with Rev. Melinda Feller officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Monday from 3:00 pm until the time of service.
