Hilda I. Barnes 97, Geistown Borough, passed away on February 11, 2017 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born on December 2, 1919 in Boynton PA, daughter of late William and Gladys (Bowman) Hoffman. She was the wife of the late William Karshin, Clifford Anderson, and Elden Barnes. In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Theda Drass and Delores Little, and by a brother, William Hoffman. Hilda will be loving remembered by her sons, William L. Karshin, Johnstown and Randy A. (Regina) Karshin, Landisville, PA; grandchildren, Becky, Eddie, Katie, and Chris; 5 great grandchildren; step children, Donald (Darlene) Barnes, Charlotte, NC, and Nancy (Dick) Caldwell, New Florence, PA; brother, David (Arlene) Hoffman, Davidsville, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Hilda and her late husband, Cliff where owners and operators of the former Anderson Motel, Richland Township. She was a former member of the Christ Evangelical United Brethren Church and currently a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. Hilda enjoyed cooking, gardening, and traveling. She will be remembered for her wisdom, hospitality, friendships, and love. A celebration of Hilda's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Arbutus Park Manor Chapel, with the Rev. John Hollis officiating. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Oakland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Randall W. Bain officiating. Private interment will be at Richland Cemetery. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Memorial contributions may be directed to either Arbutus Park Manor, 207 Ottowa Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 or to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Hilda.
