Douglas J. Fisher, 71, of Carbondale, died Saturday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore, after a battle with cancer. His wife, the late Judith A. Williams Fisher, died Feb. 18, 2016.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Paul and Ellen Hunter Fisher, he attended Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale. He attended Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. He was previously employed at Gentex Corp., Simpson, and he retired in 2013 from the Westlake-United Corp., Mayfield.

The family wishes to send its sincere thanks to the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the outstanding care given to Doug.

Surviving are a daughter, Nicole L. Fisher Morgan and boyfriend, Joseph Puza, Carbondale; two sisters, Rebecca Liberty, Syracuse, N.Y.; and Donna Snyder, Carbondale; a brother-in-law, Bruce Williams, Carbondale; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Paul and Gerald Fisher; and three brothers-in-law, George Liberty, William Williams Jr. and Ronald "Red" Williams.

The funeral will be Thursday in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with services at 5 p.m. by the Rev. John B. McCarty, pastor of Berean Baptist Church. Interment will be private in Willow View Cemetery, Clifford. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
