Janie Mae Haynes Jackson was born Tuesday, September 27, 1927 to Samuel Haynes and Edna McKenny Haynes in Centreville, Wilkinson County, MS.

She confessed hope in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Centreville Baptist Church in Centreville, MS. After moving to Peoria, Peoria County, IL, she joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

She married Matthew Jackson, the son of Anthony Jackson and Viola Jackson, who was also a native of Centreville, MS. Nine children, eight daughters and one son, were born to their union. She was a homemaker.

In 1957, the Jackson Family moved to Chicago, Cook County, IL. In 2003, she moved from Peoria, IL to Liberty Community in Collinsville, Kemper County, MS.

She departed her earthly life on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at her residence in Collinsville, MS at the blessed age of 89.

She was the Wife of Matthew Jackson; the Mother of Mildred Heath, Johnnie Mae Gardner, Edna Pollock, Beverly Silas, Ola Mae Boyd Agyei, Deloris Jackson, Brenda Kay Jackson, and Earnest Jackson; the Daughter of Samuel Haynes and Edna McKenny Haynes Gedra; the Step Daughter of Emerson Gedra; and the Sister of Rosa Lee Haynes Douglas.
