James had married first Hannah Walker, with whom he had four children, born 1675 to 1683. Following his death, she remained widowed for more than ten years, but about 1704 she m. (2) as his second wife, Edward Johnson, the son of Maj William Johnson and Esther Wiswell of Woburn. Edward had married as his first wife, Sarah Walker, with whom he had eight children. Abigail was living in 1725 when mentioned in the will of her husband.
