Jimmie Wayne Black, 72, of Galveston, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 12 2017. He was born December 15, 1944 to Jimmie V. and Matilda Black.

He retired from the Port of Galveston. During his retirement years, he loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, and the trips he and his wife took to Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by parents; brother, Larry; sister, Helen; father- in-law, Wm Paul Ragan; mother-in- law, Mamie Ragan; brother, Wm Paul Ragan Jr. and Jimmie Dillon.

He is survived by wife Betty of 49 years; daughters, Kim Bember (Johnny) and Paula Garza (Ken); brothers, Billy (Cathy) and Charles (Pam); sisters, Charlotte Tolle (Bill), Joyce Dudley (George); grandsons, Donavan, Christopher, Kyle, Kenny Jr. and Mason; great-granddaughters, Addison and Noelle; brothers-in-law, Sonny Redding, Jesse Ragan(Geraldine) and sisters-in-law, Nancy Black and Delores Ragan; special niece, Vickie Walker (Brent) and their children, Ashley and Bryce; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Ken Garza, Johnny Bember, Brent Walker, Donavan Howard, Christopher Stritz and Kyle Bember. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Higgins and Earl Kalsnes.
Guests are invited to share in a Celebration of Life

Visitation from 5-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 followed by 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16th Funeral Services at Carnes Funeral Home – Texas City 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas 77591.

Interment will be at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.

He was a loving and devoted husband and father,
who will be deeply missed and always remembered.
