Mrs. Doris E. Connell Thomas, 91 of Kerrville passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at her residence.

She was born March 18, 1921 in Childress to Grover and Beulah (McKown) Connell. She graduated from Childress High School in 1937 where she was a tennis champion.

Doris was a homemaker, a member of the Methodist church and was active with The Red Hat Society. She moved to
Kerrville in 1998 and lived at Take It Easy RV Park until 2011. She loved living there and left many friends and neighbors of which she missed dearly. She loved swimming, playing games, fishing, reading, and cooking, especially for her family. She was an avid water skiier into her mid 70’s.

She married Doyle G. Thomas in Childress. They would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on July 28 of this year.

He survives along with a daughter, La Juana Jo Thomas Blaylock of Kerrville, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and many loved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her caretakers, Sonjie Thomas and Christine Cubit.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy Kay Miller.
