Carlton (Corky) Young, age 90, of Sarasota, and formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ and Easton, PA, died on February 6th, 2017. Corky was born the fourth child of James and Nellie Miller Young on June 5th, 1926 in Easton, PA. He entered the Army in 1944. He served in the 8th Infantry Division in France and Germany, returning in 1946. He established the first Volkswagen dealership in Pennsylvania. He was married to Minette Surran in 1955. She passed away in 1984. Corky retired from Mazda USA. He married Barbara Gerrity Koscin, and in 1988 they retired in Sarasota. Corky was interested in auto racing, and helped form the Jersey Sports Car Club. He was member of the MG and ACD car club in Florida. He also enjoyed racing motorcycles, and started the first Velodrome in Trexlertown, PA. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Barbara, stepdaughter, Francine Potkin (Harvey), stepsons, Joe Koscin (Judy) Mark Koscin (Yolanda), 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nellie Young, his first spouse, Minette, two sisters, Lorraine and Natalie, and a brother, Shelly.
Military graveside service will be conducted at Sarasota National Cemetery on Friday February 17th at 9:30AM. Toale Brothers Funeral Homes, Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
