Services for Randall E. Wood were on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Kenton Birtell officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery, Lexington, Nebraska.

Randall Eugene “Big Randy” “Woody” Wood, 64 years of age, of rural Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Randall was born February 11, 1952 in Lexington, the second of five children born to Irven L. and Ruth E. (Hagan) Wood. He received his primary education from Lexington Public Schools.

On December 20, 1977 he was united in marriage to Glena M. Gipson at Lexington. To this union four sons were born: Randy, Justin, Douglas and Daryn. The family made their home in Bertrand and later in rural Loomis, where Randall worked at local hay mills and part-time for Don Hanson and later, Troy Kuck.

Randall enjoyed racing and watching stock cars and fishing and camping with family in his younger years.

Randall is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Don Carlson; two grandchildren; and favorite dog, Cooper.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Glena Wood of rural Loomis; sons: Randy Wood and his wife, Angela of Holdrege, Justin Wood and his fiancé, Kaylee Beck of Loomis, Douglas Wood of Hastings, Nebraska and Daryn Wood and his wife, Hillary of Holdrege; 22 grandchildren; brothers: Leon Wood of Fort Worth, Texas, Daryl Wood of rural Loomis and Dennis Wood and his wife, Zelda of Duncan, Nebraska; sister, Cheryl Carlson of York, Nebraska; father-in-law, Lester Gipson of Louisville, Kentucky; faithful dog, Buddy; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Randall’s honor and will be designated at a later date.
