Flora Mae was born January 13, 1922, in Braymer, MO, the daughter of Payton Lafayette and Bertha Christina (Sturwoldt) Vanderpool. Along with her parents, Flora Mae was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy W. King and Donald Young; sons, Roy W. King, Jr. and Kelly Lloyd King; sisters, Vaunda Feil, Ilene Stallings, Madolene Stanley, Vera Denny, Ellen Boyer and Thelma Blanton; and brothers, Ralph, Buford and P. L. Jr. Vanderpool.
Sudie graduated from Lathrop High School and attended IBM school. She worked 19 years in sales and bookkeeping for Zep, Inc. in Riverside. Sudie had been a member of First Christian churches in Lathrop and Bonner Springs. She was also a member of the Lansing, Kansas Community Club, Red Hat Society, Lathrop Service Club, and was a charter member of the Northland Quilters Guild. She also had Best of Show Quilts.
Sudie's hobbies included flowers and gardening, piecing quilts, traveling, fishing with Roy in Minnesota and Canada, and family gatherings.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Kris King, Mark Steven King, Shelly Powell and Julie O'Malley; a great grandson, Jacob King; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
