Joshua Harris Brooks, 17, passed away February 9, 2014, in Sherman, Texas.

Joshua was born May 9th, 1996 at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a member of Victory Life Church in Durant, Okla.

Joshua was a senior at Sherman High School. He played football for Piner Middle School and for Sherman High. A longtime member of the Boy Scouts he received Cub Scouting's highest award before attaining the rank of Life Scout in Scout Troop 66 in Sherman. He finished a few requirements short of getting his Eagle Scout Award. In his 10 years in Scouting he attended Summer Camps in three states, highlighted by 2 trips to Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch in Walsenburg, Colo. He also attended the 2010 National Jamboree in Virginia with his Brother and Dad. His favorite place to camp was Robber's Cave in Oklahoma.

Josh was an accomplished video game enthusiast. He enjoyed playing video games, as well as, watching others play them. Josh loved computers; his speed and ability were impressive.

He also enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed his time in scouting and on numerous vacations to Colorado where he and his family enjoyed hiking, camping, swimming, horseback riding, whitewater rafting and rock climbing.

Josh was very intelligent and quick-witted, he had a great sense of humor and he loved to tease his family. Josh had a big, kind and gentle heart, he was caring and kind and he was always ready to help. Josh will be greatly missed by all of whose lives he touched.

Left to Cherish his memory are his parents, Robert and Crystal Brooks; brother, Matthew; sister, Lauren; grandparents, Paul and Bettye Forney, Ken and Carolyn Wynn; and a multitude of loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He also left behind one loving and adoring Yorkie, named Bailey.

Services will be held February 15 at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman with the Rev. Lee Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Akers Cemetery in Sherman, Texas.
