Herbert Ross, 90, Independence, Missouri, formerly of Granby, died December 21, 2014 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, following a short illness. Herbert was born September 11, 1924 in Granby, the son of Ed and Naomi (Brown) Ross. He lived in the Kansas City area for the last 58 years. Herbert served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a machinist for an insulation manufacturer. He was a member of the Assembly of God church. Herbert loved fishing, reminiscing about military experiences and going to church. He married Hopie Hood on November 6, 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma and she survives. Also surviving are one brother, Kenny Ross of Purdy; one sister, Norma Jean Grissom of Miami, OK and numerous nieces and nephews. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
