Charles B. O'Brien, formerly of Westport and husband of Barbara (McLernon) O'Brien, died Jan. 1 at Waterbury Hospital. He was 81.
Born in New Haven Dec. 1, 1919, he was the son of the late John V. and Mary C. (Buckley) O'Brien. Mr. O'Brien was a graduate of Brown University and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was one of the founders of O'Brien and Powers Associates, an advertising agency in Branford.
Besides his wife, Mr. O'Brien is survived by sons David and Timothy, both of California; grandchildren Jared and Jessica; and sister Anne. E. McKeen of Hamden.
