Gordon Ray Barton was born to Carl Milton Barton & Vesta Jean Neisius at Ruth Potter Hospital in Fremont, Dodge County, Nebraska. He is the third of seven children.
In 1959, at the age of 17, he went into the Army with his older brother Albert "Deon" Barton. After Basic Training in Colorado, he was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany where he guarded the atomic warheads for the atomic cannons that were stored in bunkers. When not on guard duty he trained as a Bazooka Specialist.
After leaving the Army in 1962, he joined the local 1140 Labor's Union Hall in Omaha, Nebraska. He worked Construc-
tion for approx. 25 years, working on various highway and building projects in and around the Fremont/Omaha area.
He married Judith Dianne Logan November 23, 1970 in Fremont. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in February 1973. He held the hope of the Resurrection in his heart even into his dying days.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judith "Dianne" Barton, his daughter Amber Dalton; both of Fremont, his son Les Barton (wife Tracy)of Wilber, Ne, granddaughter Autumn Barton, grandson John Dalton; both of Blue Mound, Illinois and youngest grandson Andrew Dalton of Fremont, brothers Albert "Deon" Barton of Nebraska and Carl Gene Barton (wife Debbie)of Alabama; sisters: Cinda Joy McCabe (husband Roy Mac) and Patricia Adele Loewe (husband Richard; all of Fremont, Sister-in-law: Connie Montgomery of South Dakota and an Aunt: Leona Cornelius of Cotati, California. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Patricia "Patty" Ruth Barton and Clara "Sue" Brewer, brothers: John Warren Grisom and Charles "Chuck" LeRoy Montgomery.
He will be greatly missed.
