Our Angel left to be in the arms of our dear Lord on Friday, Feb 3, 2017. Sandy was born on Nov, 28th 1965 and although she spent the majority of her adult life in Meriden, CT, her childhood was spent in Aguada, Puerto Rico.
Sandy was a kindhearted gentle soul who was quick to laugh. She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for pitbulls and bunnies. On any given day you could find Sandy on her phone calling loved ones to just check up on them and make sure they had eaten and were generally ok-that was just one way Sandy expressed her love to everyone. But if you didn't pick up-be prepared for multiple voicemails! She was determined to get her message across one way or another. And if she wasn't talking on the phone then she was "relasking" sipping her coffee while having a smoke. It didn't matter if you knew her for 10 years or 10 minutes, she always managed to put a smile on your face and sometimes did so unintentionally. For example, Sandy had the best laugh, a laugh so contagious that you couldn't help but immediately fall in love with her. She enjoyed shopping and pedicures and numerous photo-shoot sessions when her daughter Erika would insist on giving her "new looks." They also spent time watching sunsets at the vineyards where Sandy would have two sips of wine and spend the rest of the evening giggling. If Robert was out of state Sandy would always send "little Robert" letters and cards for holidays and birthdays-she was very thoughtful that way, and she adored her baby boy. Although their taste in music differed, Robert and Sandy both shared a love for listening to music and dancing. So the next time you hear Stevie B or Cindy Lauper know that Sandy is up in heaven tapping her feet and moving to the beat.
Sandy will be dearly missed by her daughters Erika L. Rivera, Victoria Rivera, and her son Alberto Rivera. She also leaves behind her adoptive mother Dominica Rivera, her birth mother Edith Rivera; her brothers and sisters; Ricky, Benny, Chris, Aida and Rose as well as her aunts Violet and Blanca Nilsa Rivera in addition to numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home 48 Cook Ave in Meriden on Friday Feb 10th from 9-12pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place immediately after at 12:30pm at St Joseph's Church on 22 Goodwin Ave in Meriden. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Monday Feb 13, 2017 at 11am.
