In 1940 he, his parents, sister, and maternal grandmother lived on a dairy farm they owned on R.D.#1, Freeport, PA in South Buffalo Township. Their home was valued at $5100. His sister worked as a clerk in a grocery store, with an income in 1939 of $520 for 52 weeks of work. He worked as a lawn hand on lawns, but had not worked in 1939.

In 1950 he and his wife and their daughter lived on a farm on the road to West Winfield off of Route 228 (Sarver Road) in South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, PA.

Charles Dale "Johnny" Noble, 85, of South Buffalo Township, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin Township.

He was born in South Buffalo Township June 27, 1918 to Robert Shields and Alberta Elizabeth (Patton) Noble.

A self-employed beef cattle farmer, Mr. Noble was also a supervisor for South Buffalo Township for 26 years.

He was a life member of the South Buffalo Fire Department, and served as the sexton for Slate Lick Cemetery for 30 years.

Mr. Noble was a member of the Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church, Freeport.

He enjoyed gardening and hunting and was an avid reader.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Mae (White) Noble; a daughter, Susan Noble-Kempin of New York, N.Y.; two stepgrandsons, Michael Kem-pin of Hartsdale, N.Y. and Jason Kempin of Brooklyn; a stepgreat grandson; Zachery Kem-pin of Hartsdale, N.Y. and two sisters, Ruth Henderson of Sugarcreek Township and Dorothy Noble of Kittanning.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Noble and two sisters, Lois Wilson and Alva Arner.

NOBLE — Friends of Charles, Dale "Johnny" Noble, 85, of South Buffalo Township, who died Sept. 28, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.A funeral service will be held at the Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church, Freeport, at 11 a.m. Wednesday with his pastor, the Rev. Mark Davis officiating. Burial will be in Slate Lick Cemetery, Freeport.
