From the News Democrat:
Larry Ardell Curtis (Poppy), age 69, of White Bluff, TN went to his heavenly home Saturday, January 28, 2017. After a valiant fight with the aggressive foe of cancer, God mercifully released him from suffering. Born April 6, 1947, to Rose (Miller) and Ardell Curtis. Larry and his wife, Donna (Bryan) Curtis, formerly of Hueytown, AL, shared an amazing love story for over 37 years. Larry is survived by one son, Jason L. Curtis, of New Mexico, two daughters, Jennifer Hooban of Nashville and Sarah Reeves of White Bluff, TN, and two precious grandgirls, Emma and Chloe Tarwater of Nashville, sister Vicky Lynn (Larry) Wyese, of Hillsdale, MI, brother Donald Mitchell, Ypsilanti, MI, beloved nephew Beau, Chris, and Jay Bryan, nieces Stephanie (Wyese) Myers of Michigan, Crystal Fowler (Greg) of North Carolina, and many cousins wit whom he stayed close throughout his life. Larry had a special love for his children, always opening his heart to those needing a warm hug, unconditional love, and gentle (sometimes pointed!) advice. He was a strong and loving husband, loyal friend, and precious "Poppy" to so many. Larry was a genuine smile, hug, and handshake to those who entered the doors of Calvary Chapel Dickson. He will be missed by so many, but the love he gave will remain in our hearts. He has now seen the face of God and lives in joy, health, and peace. We will be with him again.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen, TN. Pastor Eric Irwin of Calvary Chapel Dickson and Bro. John "Ox" Rasmasson of Mercy Hands Ministries officiated the service. Burial followed in the McEwen Cemetery in McEwen, TN.
