DECATUR
Funeral service for Robbie Neil James Powell, 88, of Decatur, will be today Feb. 13, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Pressnell officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Powell, who died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at the USA Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, was born on Sept. 20, 1928 in Lauderdale County to William Franklin James and Flora Madge LeMay James.
Mrs. Powell, with her sister-in-law, Dorothy Powell, owned and operated Powell’s Beauty Salon in Decatur for 33 years. Mrs. Powell enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting for her family members.
Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert James Powell; her parents; sisters, Gwendal Richardson and Joyce Alldredge; and brothers, Bobbie James, Dillard James and Lyvon James.
Survivors include one brother, Kenneth James, Athens; two sons, Tim James (Glendora), and Rickey James (Peggy); two daughters, Sheron Terry and Sherry Jones (David), all of Decatur. Grandchildren, Donnie Terry II, Decatur, Heather James (Rich Staniszewski) Castle Rock, Colorado, Misty Oliver (Kevin), Amanda Turnage (John), Ryan Jones and Austin Jones, all of Decatur, and one great-granddaughter, Ella Roark Staniszewski, Castle Rock, Colorado.
Pallbearers will be family members.
