Wendell Eugene Ashcraft, 74, of Hamburg, died Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Cornerstone Hospital in Little Rock. Mr Ashcraft was a native of Prescott and a resident of Hamburg for the past 42 years. He was a Automotive Technician and worked at Jr Meeks Chevrolet, Ashley Motor Company and Hennington Chevrolet. He was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed shooting and building guns. Everyone that knew him, knew that he loved to talk and tell stories.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ishmael and Irie Barker Ashcraft and a brother, Allen Ashcraft.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathy Purtle Ashcraft of Hamurg; a son, Mike Ashcraft and wife, Susan, of Crossett; a daughter, Cheryl Jones and husband, David, of Malvern; four grandchildren, Micheal Jones and wife, Sarah, Ian Ashcraft, Caitlyn Jones and Lauren Courson; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Jones and Braxton Sharp.

Funeral services are 2 pm, Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Josh Luellen, Bro. Trey Emory and Bro. Tommy Sivils officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Micheal Jones, Ian Ashcraft, Michael Adams, Tyman Allison, Doug Jackson and George Courson. Honorary pallbearers are Henry Bierbaum, Darrell Johnson, Johnny Kilcrease, Johnny Pierce, Lexie Courson and Sam Denton. Memorials may be made to the Ashley County Library, 211 E Lincoln Street, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Visitation will be 2-4 pm, Sunday at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg, AR.
