Michael M. Hollingsworth was the son of Richard and Sarah Hollingsworth, both of North & South Carolina, they lived in Ohio most of their lives.

Michael made his living as a Farmer and married Ann (Thomas) Hollingsworth on August 19, 1831. To this union were born the following children:
*Harriett, b. Jun 6, 1834 - d. May 22, 1887, m. Richard Ridgeway.
*Isaiah Thomas, b. Mar. 8,1842, Grant County, Ind. d.Jan 18, 1914, Ronan, Montana
*Elizabeth, b.July 24, 1851 d.?, (no information listed about her, she possibly died young, as she is not listed as a child of Michael & Ann in the 1909 history of B.V.County or in census records)
*Joseph D., b.July 24, 1851, was their youngest child. History of B.V. Co. states Joseph was living in Callaway, NB. In 1939 letter to Anna H. Christy from Uncle Joseph it states - "He is your grandfather's only brother and still lives in Eureka, KS The family bible says he died. Sept. 13, 1942, 91 yrs old.

**In 1862, he came to Buena Vista, IA , and where his house stood is where the C & NW depot now (1909) stands in Sioux Rapids, Buena Vista County, IA. The ford by his home was called the Hollingsworth Ford and later the bridge there was called Hollingsworth Ford Bridge.**

*Michael died Feb. 11, 1889 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa when he was 76 years old, unknown cemetery location at this time.
